Rejection that brought communion

The message of Christ was a message that was bound to be rejected by people. Who he claimed to be was also bound to be rejected. The stuff that he came to accomplish and what he spoke about was bound to be rejected.

When he was born King Herod was after his life and this was just the start of his tryst with rejection. Christ was rejected by the so called ‘good and righteous’ people of his time. In Luke 6 : 1-3 we see the he was rejected by his own people and they took offense at him for what he spoke. We see that Peter one of his closest disciples who had promised to stick by him no matter what happened denied him not once but thrice. Judas his disciple betrayed him. Many who were with him left him (John 6:66).
But it was on the cross he faced the worst form of rejection. When he saw that the Father turn his face from him because the sin of the world was on him. This was the Father whose message he had become and come into the world. This was the Father of whom he said that ‘I and my Father are one’. The same Father who had said, “This is my son in whom I am well pleased”, had to forsake his son. And as he cried out “My Father, My Father why have you forsaken me” it was a cry like none other. A cry of a man who suffered rejection from the moment he came into this world. But all the rejection that he faced seemed insignificant at the sight of the one whom he loved the most turning away. The cross tells us this story of this separation that brought communion. The message (Christ) was bound to be rejected but he bore it and faced every bit of it so that you and I may be accepted.
Have you ever felt rejected by anyone in your life? Have you faced rejection by someone so close to you that it has left a scar in your life that just won’t go away? Do you feel rejected every single day by people around you, who just don’t seem to understand you? Do you long to be accepted? Do you long to be loved genuinely?
There were many people in the time of Jesus who faced rejection from society because of the laws in place. Luke 15:1-2 tells us that Jesus reached out to these kind of people. John 4 tells us of Jesus interacting with the Samaritan woman who was an outcast. We see in John 8 he saved a woman caught in adultery. Luke 19 talks of Zacchaeus a tax collector who wanted to see who Jesus was. Thought tax collectors were looked down upon Jesus accepted him and went to his home. There are more examples like these in the bible. Jesus gave these people hope. A hope like no other. They were accepted when absolutely no one would even think of accepting them leave alone looking at them with dignity. And that was not all; the message was that they would be accepted by GOD! I can only imagine what would they have felt.

The bible says in Galatians 3:13 that Christ became a curse for us. He suffered rejection so that you might be accepted. If the answer to any of the questions asked above is ‘yes’ then know this that Jesus understands what you are going through. He faced separation so that you might have a living relationship with GOD who truly loves you. He did it so that you might have the right purpose in life, to worship GOD and live life that has meaning.
Because of what Jesus did we have communion with GOD, the author and creator of everything. We are accepted by GOD who is the definition of perfection even though we are imperfect because of the perfect sacrifice of Christ. Yes we are accepted by GOD which is an awesome thing and it is TRUE.
What a beautiful message that there is someone who loves you and accepts you the way you are because of what Christ has done on the cross.
This is the message of hope that Jesus has for you and it is my prayer that if you are a person longing for acceptance you will find it in Christ. And if you are a person who has known Christ but situations, circumstances or people in your life are causing you to feel rejected it is my prayer for you that you will find renewed strength in the fact that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ who loves you and accepts you the way you are.
